Queen's Scout Award

Congratulations to Charlie O’Neil, who has achieved a Queen’s Scout Award, one of the highest in scouting awards.

The award recognises hundreds of hours of work and commitment put in by recipients across a wide range of areas which for me included regular volunteering, community service, personal and leadership development, environment projects, undertaking key roles in the organisation and running of major events for several hundred youth members as well as some of the more ‘traditional’ outdoor skills and activities.

Well done Charlie!

Lasallian Spirit

This week, Rory Colman (8.2) has been up at his Nanna’s place, just north of Shepperton, assisting with the flood effort. He has been filling sandbags and generally being helpful for this community while they are in a time of great need.

Rory is a wonderful student in 8.2, and has a 'no-fuss' attitude when it comes to getting on with it, even promising to keep up with his English and Maths study when he has some down time.

The Year 8 team at Bentleigh East wanted to share Rory's story with the College community, as an example of Lasallian compassion in action, not only in words, and that this might encourage similar courageous acts of compassion for our brothers and sisters in times of need.

World Skate Games

Sol McCarthy (Year 11) has been picked to represent Australia in the World Skate Games, which will take place in Argentina from 23 October  to 13 November, 2022.

For Sol, an aspect of this personal honour is in being "the first Ethiopian to represent Australia in rink hockey and the first Ethiopian-born athlete to compete in a World Skate event."
