Students have settled in quickly for the last term of the year. Our Inquiry rotations have begun and all students have enjoyed the first round of activities. Please see below for photos.
Our excursion to Quantum Victoria is fast approaching, with payment due by the end of next week. Please see below for dates and more details.
The Vermont Views magazine is now available for purchase on Qkr! This is a great keepsake of 'the year that was' and a fun way to track your child's journey through their school years. Further details can be found on Qkr.
Inquiry 'Creative Hour' is up and running! As you can see from the photos below, the students have really enjoyed the activities undertaken so far! Students are making mini muffin pizzas and lemonade from real lemons in cooking. In textiles, students are using a needle and wool to make a small pouch. Students are exploring giving their drawing a three dimensional look in Perspective Drawing. In another rotations, student are challenged to build a bridge from uncooked spaghetti, and to test their design by seeing how much weight it can hold without collapsing. Student's imaginations and team work skills are put to the test when they work in a small group to design a vehicle of the future and build it from recycled materials.

Quantum Victoria is a Centre of Excellence and Innovation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education and is co-located with Charles La Trobe P-12 College at Macleod. Students will be involved in unique hands-on STEM and Digital Learning activities throughout the day. The Year 3/4 lesson is a coding and robotics one called ‘Makey Makey’. Dates are listed earlier on this page. 3AW will have different students attending on each of the excursion days. Parents will be emailed with details.
On your child’s day, they will need to be at school at 8.45am with the bus leaving for Macleod at 9am. Students will need to bring their hat, a snack, a drink bottle and their lunch in a small bag. School uniform is to be worn.
The cost of the excursion is $22.00. This covers the bus and entry into Quantum Victoria. Please complete permission and payment on Qkr! by Friday, October 28.
A reminder to all parents that Vermont Primary School is holding a Parents Maths Night in the Stadium on Thursday, November 3rd, starting at 6.30pm. Come along to see a gallery of student work, participate in workshops when VPS staff explain procedures for teaching Mathematics, and find out more about the new VPS Maths Instructional website.

The Year 6 leaders will be running some activities during the school day on Wednesday 2nd November. The day will be based on Aboriginal culture and will involve some craft activities and games led by the Year 6 students.
