Yesterday, our first whole school transition session was held. Students were given the opportunity to complete two different activities with groups of other students from their year level. Staff closely observed how students interacted with each other and will move students around in an attempt to find the best fit for students. Our next transition session on Friday is of similar format. Staff will then finalise classes in time for students to meet their 2023 class teacher and classmates on Tuesday 13th December.
The Student Attitude to School Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist our school in gaining an understanding of our students' perceptions and experience of school. This year 158 of our students in Years 4, 5 & 6 participated in the confidential online survey. We value student voice and the results of this survey are used by our Wellbeing and Curriculum Teams to identify the needs of our students and plan for future supports are focus areas of improvement.

We are so excited that our annual Christmas Carols event is able to return this year!
We will be holding our Carols on the school oval on Thursday 8th December from 5.30pm.
The evening kicks off with a family picnic, so please bring a rug, find a spot and enjoy a picnic dinner before the carolling begins at 6pm.
Each class will be performing a Christmas Carol for you to sing along to and we have been told we may have a special visitor dropping by to conclude the night ;) ;)
(Please note that this event is weather permitting, we have everything crossed the weather cooperates with our plans!)
We are asking for donations to create Christmas hampers that can be raffled to raise money for our school. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed but we are still in urgent need of donations to fill our hampers
Suggested items include:
We would be very grateful for donations to be delivered to the school office before Friday 2nd December. Our raffle will be drawn at our Christmas Carols on Thursday the 8th December.
Tickets are 1.00 each / $10.00 for the book. All tickets and money are due back by Thursday 8th December by 12:00 pm
On Monday the 19th December we had scheduled a day for students to take part in an inflatable activity program. Unfortunately it has become clear that this will not be possible as access to the oval at the moment is very restricted and the trucks will be unable to deliver the equipment. We apologise for any disappointment that this may cause, we have plans to reschedule the day for early next year, perhaps to celebrate the opening of our new and improved oval!
I would like to remind all members of our school community to follow the road and parking rules in order to improve the safety and access of all of our children when arriving or leaving school. Please note that our kiss and drop off zone still remains at the bus stop, there is no kiss and drop zone out the front of the admin building, it is signed parking bays.
I will continue to work closely with the Casey Council's Road Safety Team and Parking Compliance Team, who will be monitoring, educating and enforcing compliance with parking at our school. They have also provided the following information that clearly outline the specific rules around Pick Up and Drop of Zones, like the one at the bus stop.
Our School Community appreciate your support with this!
At Clyde Primary School there are a number of opportunities for students to eat throughout the school day. During the morning, and again later in the day, students are able to have fruit breaks. This is where students are able to eat fruit or vegetables during lesson time. In addition to this, students have a snack break before going out at recess and a lunch break before lunch time. During this time students are given time to eat their snack and lunch. Any food that has not been eaten during the break times can be taken outside without wrappers. We encourage students to take outside solid food items such as cereal bars rather than loose items which could be easily spilt.
Next year we will be looking at encouraging Nude Food at school. Nude Food is a term for food brought to school without excess packaging. More information on this will be provided next year.
Last week students in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 took part in an Athletics event at Casey Fields. During the event the students we placed into House Teams and had the opportunity to take part in a range of different sports from the long jump to hurdles. It was fantastic to see the children in their house colours taking part in all of the events. Thank you to our student leaders and the parent helpers who supported this wonderful day and helped make it such a success.
This morning it was very exciting to see a number of students and staff come to school with crazy hair. It was fantastic to see the imaginative hairstyles and we appreciate how much effort was put into this event across the school. $397 was raised from this fundraiser and will go to the SES to provide support to communities affected by the recent floods across Australia.
Friday the 9th of December is a Curriculum day for our staff. As such this will be a student free day.
Yesterday, a number of our staff completed their annual Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. We have a number of staff who are trained in first aid and to be up to date, they are required to re-fresh their CPR training each year.
Tuesday the 20th December is our last day of school for the year. Please note that it is an early dismissal time at 1.30pm on this day.
Above you will find the starting school dates for next year. The office will be re-open on Friday 27th and Monday 30th January to take enquiries.
Team Kids will operate over the Summer school holidays and will also offer care for children on the above Curriculum Days.
