VUSC Pasifika Engagement Committee

Last term VUSC launched the Pasifika Engagement Project, funded by the Victorian Department of Education. Parents and carers of Pasifika students in Year 9 and 10 were invited to the Senior Campus for the launch hosted by our Principal, Ms Hazim.

The aims of the Engagement Project are to increase regular attendance, classroom engagement and completion of Year 12 by our Pasifika student cohort.

Students can only achieve their best when there is a very strong relationship between the College and its families.

Therefore as part of the Project, we will be establishing a Pasifika Engagement Committee to enable Pasifika families and students to have a voice and share their opinions and suggestions about how to increase attendance and engagement for their students, to ensure Pasifika students experience successful pathways and careers after school.

The guiding principle of the Project will be “Nothing about us, without us.” If you are interested in joining this committee, the first meeting will be in Building B at the Cairnlea Campus at 5:00pm on Tuesday 8 November.

Please advise Michael Donnelly via email michael.donnelly2@education.vic.gov.au or by phoning 8312 0200,  if you would like to attend. At that meeting you will be able to hear a report given by our students who have analysed the data obtained in a recently completed survey of Year 9 and 10 students’ learning behaviours as well as assist in making plans for the continuation of the Project’s work in 2023.

We look forward to seeing you there!
