Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to school for Term 4! With only 75 days until Christmas there is much to achieve this term. A Parent Calendar will be published this week outlining the events of the term.

Now that it is Term 4 all students will need to be wearing their summer uniforms. In the event that the morning is fresh, students can wear their navy blue jumpers to school. 

We will have our final Staff Development Day for 2022 on Monday 14 November (Week 6). This will be a day when staff will undergo professional learning and therefore will be a Pupil Free Day. Students will return to school for Week 6 on Tuesday 15 November.

Due to the floods and the postponement of the Small Schools Public Speaking Competition, we have rescheduled it for Wednesday 19 October. All students will continue to rehearse their speeches at school. All are welcome to come and watch the competition. There will be a cafe operating as part of the Year 6 fundraising efforts.

Socktober is an annual fundraiser for Catholic Missions and is held each October. During this time fundraisers are held at the school as part of our contribution to Catholic Missions. For this year we will participate in the following events and ask that students bring in a gold coin donation for each event. Please note the amendment to the dates:

Thursday 13 October - mufti day

Thursday 20 October - coin trail (please bring in any coins that you have from home so students can make the longest trail).

Thursday 27 October - crazy sock and hair day 

In the coming weeks nominations for 2023 Student Leadership positions will be open. Students in Year 5 are able to nominate themselves for these roles and will be able to collect the leadership application forms from the school. 

Sacred Heart Parish are looking to reinstate the altar servers program here in Boggabri for Saturday masses. We would be looking to create a monthly roster and are looking for students who have received their First Eucharist to volunteer for this role in our parish. Please contact me at school if your child would like to participate. The training for altar serving will commence in November. 

Lastly, our Kindergarten transition will continue from Week 1 in Term 4 for students commencing Kinder in 2023. Transition will conclude on Thursday 10 November (Week 5). On this day we will have a special assembly for our transition students at 2:30 pm. 

Advertising for our 2024 transition program will commence this term. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program next year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms for next years transition program will be available later in the term.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten for 2023 or any other year group, please encourage them to contact me at school. 

Happy birthday to Oscar who turned 10 on 6th October, Ellie who celebrated her 8th birthday on Sunday and Mrs Roseby who celebrates her special day this Saturday.
