Drama Matters
Year 10 & 11 Drama Incursion: 4 March
Students in Years 10 & 11 were lucky enough to take part in a 3- hour workshop in the Sarto last week. Our guest industry artist Guilluame Barrierre is a very experienced actor and teacher. Students worked incredibly hard throughout, refining and developing their playbuilding tasks. The aim of the workshop was to focus each group on how to develop their storytelling skills. To create and develop characters and narratives that will engage an audience. For Year 10 their audience will be Year 5 & 6 as their unit of work is Children’s Theatre. Year 11 have taken on the challenging content of Fake News and Consent. Each year group has its own hurdles and difficulties. With drama the aim is always to get ideas ‘on the floor’ so they can be explored physically. Collaboration and creativity is the key to success.

Music Matters
We are extremely excited for our first performances in over a year coming up in Week 9 this term. In these performances we will be featuring our bands and percussion. As COVID rules relax we are aware of the latest government regulations regarding parents in schools. We are also aware that we are still required to follow a COVID plan and regulations regarding social distancing. For this reason we will be requiring parents to register their attendance via Trybooking, I will include the link below. This is a new performance for the Performing Arts Department but my hope is it will become part of the PA calendar in the future. I must ask that we limit tickets to 1 family member per performer as this will allow an equal chance to see the students perform for each family. We are capping the limit on attendees to 100 as regards COVID spacing. The Trybooking link will be sent out to parents soon.
Open Day is on March 20 and there will be involvement from some of our Ensembles throughout the day. Please check with your Ensemble Director regarding times. Please be advised that only booked attendees will be allowed onto school grounds. That means only people who have booked tours will be on site. Would you please therefore drop off and pick up your son when he has finished his performance.
Well done to Ms Lindley and the Year 10 and 11 Drama students on their Drama Incursion last week. Guilluame Barrierre worked with each group for 3 hours. Many groups were able to devise performances and to polish existing works.
