Prayer

God,

Today we honour the women of all times and places,

Women of courage,

Women of hope,

Women of suffering,

Women of mourning,

Women living fully,

Women experiencing joy,

Women delighting in life,

Women knowing the interconnectedness of the human family,

Women promoting human flourishing,

Women boldly leading the transformation of unjust global structures,

Women seeking and sharing wisdom and love,

Loving God, we celebrate your faithfulness and love,

On this day we celebrate the promotion of the full humanity of all women everywhere,

We know that whatever denies or distorts the full humanity is not of God,

Help us to be faithful to your call to love all of humanity equally,

In your holy name we pray, Amen .

International Women's Day

We held an important whole school Assembly on Monday for International Women's Day, co-run by our Student Leaders and the Student Leaders of Mercy College.

As our College Captain, Liam Chang, said:

"It is a day of celebration.  Celebrating women in all their diversities, and embracing their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity and disability.  We celebrate and acknowledge the women who came before us, more than 60,000 years ago from this very land, as well as those from across the seas, those who stand beside us now and those who will come after us."

Mercy student, Olivia, said that "At its core, International Women's Day aims to achieve respect for women.  Through respectful relationships, a supportive and safe culture can be cultivated to help women achieve their potential."

Students and staff were able to make pledges to #ChoosetoChallenge.

A special thank you to the Student Leaders from Mercy Catholic College for their attendance and assistance with this Assembly.

Junior School Bible Liturgy

The Junior School held a beautiful and reverent ceremony  yesterday for the Year 5 and 6 Bible Liturgy where the Year 5 and new Year 6 students received their Bible.  The Year 6 students also recited their Pledge of Leadership for the Junior School.  Please see the Junior School News page for Mr Long's article on this event.

Celebrating 200 Years of Catholic Education in Australia

This year we celebrate the bicentenary of Catholic Education in Australia, and also the 150th anniversary of our oldest Edmund Rice school in Australia.  I share with you below a heartfelt message from Dr Craig Wattam, our new EREA Executive Director.

"We humbly go about the business of continuing to educate our children in faith and in learning, so that they are equipped to live meaningful lives, and ones that benefit others, especially the poor, the silenced, and the forgotten." Dr Craig Wattam

ISA & CSDA Finals

The ISA Summer competition has been a great Term 1 season this year and I congratulate all our players and coaches on their excellent season.

We have 8 Basketball teams in the Grand Finals, and the 2nd XI Cricket play against St Andrew's Cathedral School at Oxford Falls this Saturday.

We have one student, Jose Monk (Year 9), who will compete in the CSDA Public Speaking Zone Finals this Friday night.  Jose's speech is on Plato's "The Allegory of the Cave".

Good luck to all our finalists.

ISA Swimming Carnival

Best wishes and congratulations to our ISA Swimming team. Today’s carnival is the final event of the Swimming season and we wish them well.
