We encourage our families, the greatest advocates, to remind friends and families about enrolments for 2022 now open. 

2022 enrolments need to be submitted by 25th June, 2021.

UYPSSA Swimming District

Well done to all the swimmers who attended the Upper Yarra District Swimming on Friday the 19th February.

We have some amazing results some Firsts and Some seconds which takes them to the next level in competition.  Congratulation to all the students who participated.

2021 Maroondah / Manningham, Whitehorse and Yarra Division was held on Monday 1 st March . Well done to the three students Jace, Elyse and Kaia who particiapted.  

LPPS is very proud of you all in representing our School. 

Congratulations to Jace S who came second in the back stroke, well done! 

Jace now moves to swim in the Regional 2021 Eastern Metropolitan Region Swimming Carnival on the 12th of March at Boroondara Sports Complex.

We wish you all the best of luck in your event Jace.

 

Kayaking On the River

Last week we had 30 grade 5/6 students attend our annual Kayaking program at Lilydale Lake. The skills they learn through this program will stay with them through their life's journey and will provide them with many great experiences in the future.

last Friday 16 of our 5/6 students tool on the annual "kayaking on the River" event at Doon Reserve in Yarra Junction. We weren't aware that the Upper Yarra Dam had released water into the river system only 2 days prior so it made for a 'Fairly quick' course. Our students coped with the conditions extremely well, in fact we came away with the following results. Girls

Launch also won the Overall School champion Team. Well done to all who had a go at this exciting event. Hopefully next year the weather will be a bit warmer.

Car Park Courtesy

Parents are reminded to be patient and considerate of pedestrians and cars using the car parks at all times. Please park only in the marked spaces, adhere to the signs located in the carparks (no standing, disabled), refrain from double parking and blocking gateways.  Adults should always accompany children to and from parked cars.

COVID PLAN UPDATE

QR Code System 

LPPS now have a QR Code System in operation.

Please register via the QR Code system if you are in the building or grounds. These required  situated at all key entry points. Thanks for your support. 

 

COVID19

Information that might be of assistance to you in talking to your child about COVID-19 is available. If you are concerned about your wellbeing or that of your child, please contact the school so we can talk with you about how we can best assist. Other sources of support include: Parent Line 13 22 89 and Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800.

The Department COVID-19 helpline is also available on 1800 338 663. 

For families with a child with a disability, the Association for Children with a Disability (

Finally, a reminder that if you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19 you should get tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home.

Each family should regularly check the list of public exposure sites in Victoria (where a person with COVID-19 has attended), and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given. 

 

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or contact the school if you have any concerns. 

                          HATS

                              

 A reminder that in Terms 1 and 4, it is compulsory  for students to wear a  dark blue broad brimmed hat (either plain or with school logo) whilst outside.  

 

Peaked caps, baseball caps or any other hats are not acceptable.  

 

Hats are available from the Uniform Shop at the School Office.

 

Once again thanks to parents for helping to ensure life-long good habits that will protect children from sun exposure.

Parent Class Representative

School Council got together on Monday 22nd February and have decided to start up Class Representatives (parents). Naomi Van Der Zweep and Ashleigh O'Neill will be the Co ordinators of the class representatives.

Please check it out in the newsletter under heading Parent Class Representatives. We are very excited and hope you are too.

Parent Helpers

If you wish to assist in the classroom or attend excursions, you will need to –

  1. Provide a Working with Children check which is available online at http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au.
  2. If you are driving other students you will need to complete a private vehicle use form.

Please report to the office prior to helping out in the classroom.

 

Sick Bay/First Aid

 

All schools have an obligation from the Department of Education to update medical forms relating to Asthma and Anaphylaxis annually. Forms have recently been sent home to families with students who have a record of either condition. Your prompt reply would be greatly appreciated , to ensure we are able to fully provided the level of care you would expect for your child.

 

Prep Buddy New Families BBQ

On Friday the 26th February, we had our annual Prep/Buddy and News Families BBQ. It was so lovely to welcome the Preps and new families to our school by having a jumping castle, sport games and a BBQ. Here's what the Preps thought about the night. 

 

Hayden S - I loved bouncing on the jumping castle with my buddy and friends. 

 

Cayden F - I enjoyed playing on the playground and bouncing on the jumping castle with my Prep friends. 

 

Abbey BB - I loved playing with my buddy and eating a yummy sausage. 

 

Daisy - I had so much fun bouncing on the jumping castle and going down the slide.
