Music Ensembles
Next week, all ensembles will be in full swing!
On Mondays, at lunchtime, our wonderful, pro-active Music Captains have come up with an idea they are keen to run. When we have ironed out the logistics, we will notify the students for whom it is on offer. Stay tuned to this space.
Our newest performing group – a Taiko (Japanese drumming) ensemble – will begin on Tuesday 16, at lunchtime. Junior and Senior Choirs will begin proper rehearsals on the same day, after lunch.
Yesterday, at lunchtime, our super enthusiastic and ever-expanding school band had a final rehearsal before their first “gig” which will be as part of well-being week at Assembly Monday 15 March. They are already asking what the next piece of music is going to be!
Thursday lunchtimes have been set aside for assembly preparation, but there seems to be a very dedicated group of young musicians who love to come to the music room for individual practice at this time.
Excitement over taking part in music making has really blossomed this year and we teachers consider ourselves lucky to be a part of it all.
Prep Music Class
The Prep classes are learning to recognise the basic elements of music (things like dynamics and tempo), as well as building confidence when singing, playing and moving to music.
Each lesson, Mrs Ullmann adds a song or activity for their ‘word of the week’.
For the word ‘TIN’, they enjoyed playing along with some things made out of tin!
