Curriculum

While this second half of term one is plagued with shortened weeks we are working hard and making the most of our time in 3/4. Thank you to all of the 3/4 students for their consistent effort.

In Writing, students have been exploring the narrative text type. Using our Sizzling Starts from last week, students explored how they could plan a narrative that kept the readers interested and tightened the tension with a story graph. During Reading we have been learning about characters points of view along with questions good readers ask before, during and after reading. This would be a great chance for you to highlight the questions in the back of the information booklet when reading with your child.

In our Maths session last week, we continued investigating place value through some fun hands on games. You might like to ask your child to teach you their favourite maths game from the week!

In Guided Inquiry, we explored perspectives of the First Australians and those on the First Fleet. While focusing on oral storytelling we shared our own families histories, stories from our past or those passed on from older generations. It was impressive to hear the diverse oral histories from our classes along with the respectful and thoughtful way they shared together.

Special thanks to the 3/4 students who donated their time at lunch to plant out our new garden bed. It was heartwarming to see the ownership and energy you all brought to planting and protecting our school's gardens.

Please Note: To ensure a smooth transition for the upcoming NAPLAN testing we require all Year 3 students to download the NAP Locked Down Browser App for their Ipads by next week. Thank you.

Wishing you a lovely week,

Mr Dix, Miss Gasowski, Mrs McCoy, Miss Molloy, Mr O’Connor and Miss Richardson :)
