Diocesan and Polding Representatives

Touch Football

At the end of Term 1 and the first week back this term we have had students representing the school at both Diocesan and Polding level.

At the end of last term we sent students to Tamworth for the Diocesan Touch Trials. All students gave it their all and a few were unlucky to miss out on selection. We have two students who were selected to represent the Diocese at Polding later in the year: Indi Moy was selected in the girls team and Caden Carson was selected in the boys. A special mention goes to Darcy Lawlor who one of the conveners wrote this about:

"I would like to make special mention of these three young gentleman. After the games, the boys all went out of their way to thank me for a wonderful day on behalf of their school. These young men deserve recognition for their beautiful manners and integrity shown today. Thank you boys - it made my day!"

Polding

On Friday last week we sent a group of students to Bathurst for the Polding trials in netball, soccer, rugby league and hockey.

In netball, Charlotte Harris played GS, GA and GK. The team played five games over the day with Armidale Diocese getting a win in one and a couple of other close results. Charlotte was happy to have stolen the ball from a girl that was even taller than her.

In soccer, Jahluka Flint played left striker, centre mid and left mid. The team played four games over the day with one win, two draws and a loss. Jahluka managed to get two goal assists, well done!

In rugby league, Sam Lawry played front row and second row. The team played five games with three wins and a couple of losses. It was the first time Sam has played league and he was happy to have made some good tackles and assisted in two tries. Caden Carson played in the 11yrs rugby league and played five games. The team lost all games but had a couple of close matches. Caden said it was a good experience and will help prepare him for next year.

In hockey, Addison Diefenbach played forward wing. The team played 3 games with a win, loss and draw. Addison said it was a good experience and that she enjoyed meeting new people. Angus Schmude played left half, centre mid and back. The team played three games where they won two and lost one. Angus was then asked to play in the possibles/probables match and was selected to represent Polding at the State Championships. Angus really enjoyed making new friends and said he enjoyed the experience even if he hadn't made it into the Polding squad.

School Cross Country

On Tuesday, we ran our school cross country carnival which had been postponed from last term. We ran a slightly modified track compared to previous years, due to the football field being reseeded, but the students adapted well to the change. It was great to see so many parents out to support the children and we were blessed with wonderful weather for running.

Many thanks to our parent volunteers and any parents that helped guide a wayward child back on track.

Students that have qualified for the Diocesan Cross Country in Barraba next Friday have received their notes and we would appreciate there prompt return due to the tight turnaround between the school and diocesan events.
