Classroom News - Year 5

                    Welcome back to Term 2

Welcome back to all our students who have settled very well into Term 2. We hope you have all had a lovely break and we look forward to seeing students strive to do their best and enjoying all learning activities. Term 2 will be a very busy and fun term. 

                              Term 2 Learning

In English we are currently studying an 'Images of War' unit. We are continuing with our VCOP focuses and Big Write sessions and currently we are looking at the persuasive text genre. We will be looking at using persuasive devices to convince an audience. Talk homework will begin coming home again this week. In Mathematics we are studying working mathematically and problem solving for the first 3 weeks. In Religion we are learning about the season of Easter. In History we are continuing on with 'Australian Colonies' unit. 

                               Cross Country

Well done to all students who participated in the Cross country on Tuesday. A great effort was shown by all students during the event. 

                              NAPLAN testing

NAPLAN testing will be occurring throughout weeks 4 and 5 for year 3 and 5 students in Term 2. We thank all of the families for their support with this. Some students still need to bring in headphones to use during the test. 

                                 Year 5 Mass

Year 5 had their first Mass for Term 2 on Wednesday at 12.30 pm. 

                     Classroom Equipment

Most students have all of the equipment they need for Term 2, however it would be helpful if parents could check with their child to make sure they have all the necessary supplies for the term.  

                             Chess Club

Chess club will be commencing again in week 3 on Monday afternoons. The session will go from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm. All students are invited but have to fill out a permission note  to attend. These notes will come home this week.
