Classroom News - Year 3

Mrs Johnson/Mrs  Newsome and Miss Archibald

Welcome back to Term 2!

Year 3 have returned to school with enthusiasm and curiosity, ready for another busy term of learning. To ensure that your child is fully prepared for their learning, can we please ask that your child’s school supplies are restocked. Many students require replacement items such as lead pencils, glue sticks and erasers. All students will need their own personal headphones to sit the computerised NAPLAN assessments in weeks 4 and 5.

English

We have been studying informative texts in English this term, with the students learning about the features of informational texts and informative language. Students have been learning to differentiate between fact and opinion, and how to write an informative paragraph.

Maths

The focus this term so far has been on multiplication and division. Year 3 have had a lot of fun working through different games and activities to practise their times tables and multiplication facts.

Visual Arts

With ANZAC day occurring over the weekend, the students created thoughtful and reflective silhouette artworks, remembering the soldiers who fought for our freedom.

Science

We have started a new unit of learning called Feathers, Fur or Leaves. This term our focus is on the living world, classifying living and non living things. The students have already begun collecting and studying specimens to determine their characteristics.

Cross Country

Year 3 did an outstanding job at the cross country, with all students giving it their absolute best and having fun along the way. We are very proud of everyone for having a go!
