St Edward's Annual Improvement Plan Launch

At a meeting on Tuesday we launched to staff the 2021 Annual Improvement Plan under the banner "Building on yesterday, to be better tomorrow".

At this launch Dr. Jake outlined some of his observations after his first 34 days at St Edward's, some of these being:

  • High standards and expectations for all students.
  • High levels of collaboration and communication.
  • Frequent monitoring of teaching and learning.
  • Curriculum, instruction and assessments aligned with CSO and DET expectations.

The Annual Improvement Plan builds upon the tremendous growth, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy from 2020 and further affirms the quality Teaching and learning that is happening at St Edward's.

Key areas of the Annual Improvement Plan include:

  • Infants Oral Language Project - A 3 year project aimed at improving oral language skills in the early years.
  • CSO MaST Project - Pilot project aimed at improving teacher mathematical pedagogy in classrooms.
  • Learning Dashes - A targeted intensive project aimed at “jump starting” student learning
  • Living Well, Learning Well - A CSO whole of system initiative aimed at increasing student advocacy and efficacy.
  • Teacher Professional Learning - An investigation into the factors impacting on the development of the teacher as researcher identity in a primary school setting.

Dr. Jake also outlined this Annual Improvement Plan to parents at the P & F Meeting on Tuesday night.

If you would like any further information about any of our improvement initiatives, please contact the school.

Kinder Parent Workshop

There is plenty of evidence that shows that positive communication between parents/carers, students and teachers supports student academic achievement. At St Edward's School we are looking at ways to enhance and develop the relationships we have with our parent community.

By now all our Kinder parents have been contacted to secure their spot at our first key learning workshop on Reading (Tuesday 16th March at either 2.00pm - 3.00pm  OR 5.30pm - 6.30pm). Effective reading habits is critical to our children's life long learning and is necessary to set them up for continued success at school and beyond.

If you are not a parent of a Kinder child, and would like to attend, please contact the Infants Office and book in a time. You are most welcome.

Catholic Diocesan of Armidale Technology Agreement

St Edward’s Primary School encourages students to become familiar with the use of Information and Communication Technology. This agreement has been produced by the ICT team at the Catholic Schools Office and is designed to ensure that all students are safe online and that school accounts are used only for educational purposes under the facilitation and guidance of teachers. St Edward’s Primary School students and parents must be aware of and read this agreement, and accept the terms by signing via Compass Events or printing and returning the acknowledgement. Special thanks to the families who have now read and accepted/signed the agreement.  If you have not done so, we ask that you please action this by Friday 12th March.

Thank you for your support of our school as we work to ensure that our children continue to develop safe behaviours when working with technology and online.

Read the agreement here, or via the Compass portal.

Have a great week,

Alison Hatton and Pete Flynn
