Calm Learning Space News

All has been chugging along in the Calm Learning Space. On a whole, our students have been using their time here constructively. Be it,  making meaningful and much needed connections with their peers, writing in their journals, working on their classwork  or spending some time doing therapeutic arts and crafts. The students have also been enjoying getting to know Sam Sharrock, our 3rd year Social Work student.

Wellbeing Update

Mel Mitchell and Carol Degraauw (community artist) have been working with VCAL year 11 and 12 female students through funding from School Focussed Youth Services. The art enrichment program has a focus on identity, teamwork and our community. The program is being run until the end of term 2 and will showcase some artworks which you will see progress over the next term.

It is a program which aims to empower positive outcomes for participants which can transfer to other areas of life into the future.

Harmony Day is occurring on Wednesday 21st March and at this time it is great to acknowledge the differences that make our community rich.

It is a time to celebrate diversity, inclusiveness, respect and belonging. CSC is a community which values all that Harmony Day promotes and we will be having discussions in extended mentor day on Wednesday 24th March on this topic.

Mental Health First Aid

CSC has been fortunate to do catch-up for our year 12’s who missed MHFA in 2020 due to the year that was ruled by COVID. Rosie Annear and Jodie Hearne have been presenting the program to the current year 12’s over the past two weeks in conjunction with the WB team.

There is MHFA scheduled for year 8, 9 and 11’s throughout 2021 which will be supported by the new nurse, Tracy Goettler who will commence in term 2.
