The Principal's Pen

We are very thankful to have had a number of new families join our College for the start of this term. I’ve been listening to the stories of our students as they have welcomed the new children into their classes. Some have been very excited to have a new class member and others have been very intentional about making the newcomers feel welcome. One young student excitedly told me that he had asked the new boy to sit next to him – “and he said yes!”. When I thanked another student for going out of his way to look after the new student in his class he replied casually, “that’s ok. He’s my new friend”.

Researchers describe culture as being learned and we have witnessed a lot of that learning happening already. The welcoming, inclusive culture that we have in our College is highly treasured and is a visible outcome of our mission of educating for Christ, character and community. All three aspects build into our culture and give Cornerstone many of its distinctives. Thank you to everyone who plays a part in this positive community.
