school council

Dear Families,

Just when you think 2020 can’t get any more confronting and shocking, as a school community we received a comprehensive update from Hannah about her health challenges. We all know she is going to come through this even braver, stronger and more powerful than she already is. With that said, on behalf of School Council, I want to express my support for her, and our warmest thoughts and love.

And so, we find ourselves in Lockdown 2.0. It really is different this time round! It feels more serious, it feels more dangerous, it feels the stakes are so much higher. Equally it feels we all need to support each other more, show more kindness in particular to ourselves and to those around us. It’s important we continue to remind ourselves how fortunate and blessed we are. We have an amazing community at Brunswick North West Primary, there are kind and wonderful human beings all around you, if you or your children are in need of anything; reach out to the community or the school. There are so many of us who are willing to offer support or just an ear to listen.

I really want to express my gratitude to the teachers, office team and leadership team of our amazing school. They continue to deliver an invaluable experience for our children, remotely and in some cases face-to-face. Just like all of you, they have the same personal trials and tribulations, yet they front up every day to keep the educational experience alive and keep our school humming along. Show them some love; send them an email, thank them when they are online with your kids next, let them know how amazing they’ve been at the upcoming parent-teacher meetings, acknowledge their contribution in helping maintain some normality and build resilience in our children.

We have a School Council meeting this Thursday 30 July. We will hear from all the sub-committees who continue to work tirelessly through Lockdown, updates on the building works program which are moving ahead rapidly and there is plenty of data to review. As usual we will provide an update after the meeting.

Please take care, be gentle on yourselves and those around you. Our thoughts are with everyone.
