MEN

By David Bevan, Men's VP

This month saw the Men’s section finally return to field for actual, real, games. We kicked off our pre-season schedule against Altona and Frankston, fielding teams from the Premier League through to the pennant C. The premier league squad when down to Altona 4-2, however Ola Marshall bagged his first brace of the season. Speaking of braces, there was three in the reserve’s games – one each for Kobe Dudley, Steve Macumber and Simon Bowles. Pat Cassidy rounded off the goals in an emphatic 7-1 victory. I have it on good authority that Shaka’s goal was the pick of the bunch – running the ball from his own 25 yard line.

Elsewhere, Pennant B took a 1-1 all draw against a strong Frankston team – the goal coming courtesy of yours truly. Pennant C had more luck, coming out 4-2 on top in their game at Frankston. Lindsay Ondracek and Matt Mullins (twice) were on the score sheet. However, all the accolades went to Nick Barnes for selflessly saving Mullins from having to get a slab with the final goal of the game.

Keep posted throughout March for the results from our remaining fixtures before round one.

Also in March, we will announce the very first player of the Month award and we’ll hold our first session with some of the boys from juniors coming up for their first seniors sessions.
