Principal's Report

by David Lord

Principal's Message

Many of you will have seen the news of our closure for today. We are thankful that very few staff and students have been onsite so that the risk has been as minimal as it can be. I will keep you informed when I have any further information.

I would like to celebrate the effort and engagement of our students in online learning. I have been visiting many Google classrooms over the past two weeks. It is terrific to see that our teachers have maintained our lesson structure such as having clear learning intentions. I am really pleased with the collaboration across our community of students, parents and staff. I would like us all to focus on students of completing their learning interactions, whilst being realistic and sensible about student’s individual situations.

A key strategy to maintain our connection and collaboration is our family check in. All families will be contacted by a staff member between Thursday 20th August and Thursday 27th August. Please note: staff may be using private numbers as they may be calling from home. As part of this process there will be no remote learning on Friday 21st  August, as per the original scheduled parent teacher student conference schedule.

Remember you can always contact:

  • Teachers for learning support through Xuno or google classroom
  • Wellbeing via staughton.co@education.vic.gov.au
  • Kids helpline 1800 55 1800
  • Headspace.org.au
  • In an emergency, always contact 000.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
