Boarding

As we embark on our second round of remote learning our boarders once again have shown how they are able to adjust and respond with confidence. Last weekend we received the news from our Government we were entering another stage 3 lockdown. With many boarders nervous about what this would mean for travel home, especially for our South Australian and New South Wales students, we moved quickly in setting them up to return home.

Our parents, boarders and staff were amazing in their organisation and response. I thank our interstate families for their cooperation in these times and look forward to connecting with all boarders and families during our Zoom meetings in the forthcoming weeks. Please keep in mind our Heads of House and Boarding House Captains will continue to work hard on connecting our boarders with each other. Weekly Wednesday evening meetings will continue, as well as new ‘senior on duty’ leadership roles, MOD videos, and personal challenge competitions.

Our last night in the House was a bit of a sombre occasion but it was also an enjoyable evening to spend time together, reassuring each other of what we have, which is a wonderful and supportive boarding family. Thank you to all MODs, Dr Hirst and also to Alfonso for the enjoyable meal on Tuesday evening.

Mac House Bonding

On our last evening, our Head of Mac House and MODs treated the girls to a Mac House McFlurry Feast! The girls enjoyed a cookies and cream McFlurry, shared stories, laughed, and simply spent time together before they returned home the next day.

One last trip to Wongaburra

Last weekend as part of our House activities, the Speirs House boys tripped out to Justin Corbidge’s Horse ranch, Wangaburra. The boys enjoyed the fresh air, toasting marshmallows, and cooking a BBQ lunch. There was plenty of time making cubby houses, feeding animals, and racing about. Luca, Dom and Charlie did very well in competing for the best toasted marshmallow; I believe Charlie won this! Thank you to Justin and Nick Palmer for organising the day.
