The Adventures of Frankie & Ash

School Support Dogs

We have had a very exciting time since we last wrote to you.

Ash swallowed a 4 cm rock and ended up in hospital.  Mum was not sure what was wrong with her for a couple of days; she was just very, very sick.  She wouldn't play, or walk and she kept crying.  Even when we went to the vet, she was not interested in the treats.   I (Frankie) had her share (waste not, want not).

Eventually she got so sick that Mum took her to the vet again in the middle of the night.  I stayed home and looked after Taco Cat.   Mum was doing a bit of swearing about Dad choosing the right time to go away for business.

The vet took a special picture of Ash's tummy, and cut her open to take the rock out.  Ash was a very, very brave girl.   She was away for five whole days.  This was both bad and good.  Good, because I got extra love and extra treats but bad because I missed her very much.

When Ash came home she had a funny pillow on her head to stop her licking her stitches.  I thought it looked like an airplane pillow.  Ash seemed to think it was very handy when she wanted a nap.  Mum also gave Ash a coat.   I thought I should have a coat too, so I did.  Now we both have coats because they are nice and warm and we don't want to give them up.

Ash was a bit sleepy for a few days because Mum was giving her these little yellow things to swallow, but I didn't mind because we got to cuddle up.  Now she is back to normal and we are back to playing and running and going on big adventures.

I wonder what it was like to swallow the rock?  I won't find out though, because Mum has taken away all the rocks in the bases of the plants in the back courtyard.

Taco Cat (whose name is the same backwards) got into some trouble while Ash was away.  Mum and Dad realised that the lovely hot air that comes out of the floor was only coming out of a few holes, not all of the holes.    A man came and found that Taco Cat and his friend had pulled out something called ducts, and were sitting in the nice warm bits.  The man did something magic to fix them so that warm air comes out of all the holes again, and Mum and Dad blocked up all the holes that Taco Cat uses to get under the house.

So now all of us (Ash, Taco Cat and me) sleep together in the nice warm house, two of us in our nice warm coats, and no one eats rocks anymore.

That is all.
