ALUMNI & CAREERS

Term 2

Alumni News

On Monday, the Year 12 VCAL class was lucky enough to hear from alumni Alan Adair, to enrich their studies into missing people. Alan is a retired Detective Inspector and shared some very interesting stories about missing people, as well as an insight into how police go about searching for a missing person.

Alan’s first experience with missing persons cases was when he was at Bell Park High School (now WHC) in Year 10 in 1967, when a classmate went missing and was sadly later found murdered. Alan also shared a story from his time working in Geelong, involving an abandoned car, a scout leader, a young Venturer and a plan to run away to Adelaide.

His engaging talk also gave students an insight into the many roles that exist in the police force, like the dog squad, mounted branch (horses) and forensics. Following his career in the police force, Alan continued his interest in detective work and became a fraud investigator.

Afterwards, Alan also caught up with Mr Anawati and was amazed that he still remembers him after all this time!

Thank you to Alan for spending your morning with our students.
