In addition, some individual year 10 teachers will run exams for other subjects as appropriate during their classes. Students completing unit 1 VCE subjects will also have exams. These exams will begin the process of our students understanding the requirements to perform well during exams.

Work experience/Careers and subject selection are a major focus term three. Some students have commenced and some are currently planning work experience. All students are encouraged to approach their Career teachers Brenna Loe or Roger Conron to support them in the work experience processes.

WELLBEING DAY:

Girl Empowerment

This week we had a year 10 wellbeing day where the boys went down to the PAF to partake in the man cave while the girls stayed up in the year 10 building. Throughout the day we listened to guest speakers, took a zumba class, partook in mediation and made collages of our goals. We heard from a detective from the family violence unit and learned about the early warning signs of domestic violence in young relationships, we covered how to prevent them and how to get help. The guest speakers throughout the day where truly inspiring, sharing their journey through school and uni and how its ok not to know what you want to do after school and how thing just have a way of working out, they taught us to take every opportunity we are given, because we never know where it will take you. In the middle of the day we had a Zumba class which was uplifting, energizing and fun, it was great to see the girls getting involved. After we finished zumba we did a cool down and meditation to relax, which we all needed. We then made collages of our future goals with an art therapist, we were able to express ourselves through college and it was great to see everyone's personal take on their future. Overall the day was super fun and all the girls enjoyed it.

The Man Cave

The year 10 students participated in a wellbeing day. The boys undertook a program called The Man Cave. We had three presenters who spoke to us about personal development and common wellbeing issues experienced by youth. This was an interactive program which was fun and engaging. It allowed us to have a better understanding of each other at the end of the day I felt better connected to everyone present from my year level.

INTERMEDIATE VCAL

The Intermediate VCAL students have been researching local industries and the employment opportunities within the Port of Geelong. Each student chose a specific industry to research and analyse the wage entitlements, work-place conditions, advancements within the company and pathways to achieving employment. Students spent the morning at the Geelong waterfront participating in an audio-visual presentation at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club before boarding a small boat that took students to different wharfs within the northern port of Geelong. Students learnt about the imports and exports that boost Geelong’s economy as well as the shipping industry of Geelong.
