From the Principal
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope that our students are well rested and re-invigorated for Term 3.
During the final week of last Term, many of our students performed in the Mid-Year Music Celebrations, the 2 concerts were well attended and our families enjoyed the opportunity to listen to our very talented students perform. I was sitting with some very nervously excited junior students who had not yet had the opportunity to perform in such a large setting. It was great to then see them on stage performing with their ensemble and some having the opportunity to perform a short solo to highlight their skill. I was also impressed to see our senior music students performing with the students to give more depth and support to our younger performers. I noticed an occasional wry smile as they played a little louder to get students back in time or hit the important note.
Starting this week, we will have the School Production, Matilda performed in our Performing Arts Centre. Tickets have gone on sale and we hope that a large number of families and friends of the performers can attend to see the show. Over the break, our production staff and students have been busy rehearsing and preparing for the big event. Students have also been involved in day long rehearsals that ensure that we will be able to see a professional performance. Thank you especially to the staff for contributing their time to assist with the running of the rehearsals and creating the sets and props.
The Course Selection process and Course Counselling will continue this term and we appreciate the conversations that are occurring within families about the many possibilities for an individual program that best suits each student. Our Connect teachers have participated in training last term to ensure that they are able to support students and families with questions about the process. Please make sure that your child completes their Course Selection by the nominated date to ensure that they have the best opportunity to be placed in their top preferences.
You will have received a Compass notification last week about updates to the COVIDSafe measures being implemented at school. We thank our families for their support of the measures being implemented. It is through our whole community support that we will be able to continue to participate in face-to-face teaching this term. Workforce pressures are expected to continue this term and we will continue to work with our Casual Replacement Teacher pool to ensure that any impacts to student learning are minimised. We hope that the staff and student absence rates begin to decline and that we soon reach the Covid-normal that epidemiologists are hoping for.
I look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events this Term.
