Year 12 Biology

Last week the Year 12 Biology students examined antibiotic resistance as part of their immunology studies.

They coated agar plates with bacteria and then placed individual discs each impregnated with a different antibiotic onto the bacteria. Antibiotics that killed the bacteria had a clear zone around them where bacteria didn't grow. Antibiotics to which the bacteria were resistant had growth right up to their edges.
