Cross Country/Run for Bibles

2019 Cross Country - Friday, May 3

The first Friday in May was a gorgeous one, perfectly suited to a delicious BBQ, leisurely stroll in the park, and competitive cross country running. Students under 9 years of age negotiated the Jaycee Park circuit for the second year in a row, while older students ran a brand new return track, starting near the tennis club, passing by Café 1909 and the wharf on the way to the Chaffey bridge and back. Parents and friends gathered at the newly-acquired inflatable start finish arch, providing encouragement and a festival atmosphere, applauding and cheering as runners were welcomed to the finish line.

 Congratulations and thanks to Mr Jackson for his organization of the event and to all the staff for their assistance in the smooth running of the day.  Well done to the students who participated and gave their best, finishing with flair.

In conjunction with our Cross Country, we ran the Run for Bibles fundraiser as we have in previous years.  Students were given a form to find sponsors for their run, the proceeds of which will go to the Bible League.  These forms are now due to be returned and may be handed directly in to the front office.

Run4Bibles is an opportunity for our students to Stand Up, Speak Up and Lace Up for young people in South Africa who hunger for God’s Word.  By being sponsored to run in our school’s Cross Country, students will provide Bibles and biblical resources for students in South African Public Schools.  It takes just $7 to provide a complete pack (Bible and Choose Life resource), a small investment that has the ability to bear the greatest return – a life transformed by the power of the Gospel.  Each of our houses have a tally form on the school noticeboard to keep track of funds raised and bibles purchased.  The leading house changes regularly but at the moment Blue house has raised enough money for 56 Bibles.  Go Blue!
