Kitchen Garden Harvest

There’s been an explosion… an explosion of fresh produce!  We have had so much fun and excitement in the last few weeks harvesting some of the fresh veggies in our garden.  We have been learning how to preserve beans, corn, beetroot and chillies.   But we haven’t preserved all our produce, we have been cooking up a storm in the kitchen, with the aromas of  delicious dishes wafting down the corridor, taunting students and staff alike.

Last week, Gimmel and Bet students put their brains and muscles to good use by building structures, setting up irrigation, making some beautifully fragrant herb bouquets and stringing chillies to dry.  This week our ABCs and Aleph students whipped up some delicious pumpkin scones to eat with a pumpkin soup made purely from the produce in the garden.  However we haven’t eaten or preserved it all,  we’ve even had enough to sell in our ‘market stall’ located in the front office.  Our produce is fresh, it’s organic, it’s cheap and the best part is that all the money raised is put straight back into our garden running costs.
