Foodbank

To complement our studies of active citizenship and demonstrate our value of care and compassion we are once again giving families the opportunity to brighten the Christmas period for those less fortunate than ourselves.

As in past years, we are asking for donations of NON-PERISHABLE food items for Food Bank. Food Bank WA supports 500 frontline charities that provide 94,000 meals for people in need each year. Below is a list of suggestions. The ones in bold were specially requested by Food Bank this year. Please ensure that all donated items are not past their expiry date.

A box will be available in your child’s classroom for any donations you wish to make. It would be appreciated if all donations are made by Monday 16th December 2019.

Connect

By now you have probably heard others in our school community talking about the introduction of the online environment called Connect.

So in case you were unable to attend the information sessions or have missed the discussion around Connect use in our school, here is a run-down about it.

Connect is a secure online environment developed by the Department of Education for staff, students and parents in public schools.  It will give our teachers a tool to deliver content to the students via an online classroom.  This means your children will be able to share with you what they are learning about, submit assignments and discuss issues together online anywhere, anytime.  For you, Connect provides easy access to information relevant to your child’s classes and learning such as assessments, teacher feedback, and attendance data.

Schools can use Connect to keep you updated with important information.  Things like upcoming events, excursions, classroom activities, photos, and stories can be sent to you via email or, if you prefer, via a push notification on your phone.

The Connect Now app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Every parent has been sent an invite to receive your login details via the email address we have on file for you.  If you have recently changed your email address, please let us know by phoning 9266 6200 or emailing your burrendah.ps@education.wa.edu.au so we can update our details.

Absentee Notes via Connect

Parents can now send an absentee note to teachers via Connect.
