Acting Principal's Report

Celebration of Learning

For those families who may not have read the recent Compass post, I just wanted to congratulate and acknowledge you all for the way you are working through the challenge of remote learning. There are many restrictions and changes that have been imposed on us to protect our community against the COVID-19 virus, and remote learning is just another one of them.

The task of planning, teaching and assessing is extremely challenging for our teachers at the moment, but we have been so impressed with the way our students have conducted themselves online. Many teachers have reported how impressed they’ve been by the wonderful manners and care that has been demonstrated via email, video conference or within the Google Classrooms by so many of our students. We know this is challenging, and yet it’s fantastic to see such positive interactions between students and teachers and also parents and staff.  Keep up the great work – we’re all in this together!

Much of the regular information that is provided in our fortnightly newsletter is not relevant or required during remote learning, but we thought it would be great to put together some examples of the work students are completing from home during this time. There has been some terrific work completed across the College, so please take a moment to have a look through the photos and work samples and celebrate the success of our first couple of weeks of remote learning at Merbein P-10 College.
