Student Achievements

The children of Kalinda have many wonderful talents, achievements and hobbies. If your child has recently celebrated an achievement of some sort we would love to hear about it! Maybe they have broken a record at Little Athletics, earned a new belt in Karate, been selected for a choir or dance group, or been awarded a special badge in Cubs, Scouts or Guides. Whatever the accomplishment, please send details (and photos if possible) to hopkins.lauren.d@edumail.vic.gov.au or chat to Lauren Hopkins (Assistant Principal) because we would really like to share their achievements here!

Kalinda kids are kicking goals all over the place...

This week we are proud to showcase the truly amazing work of James (Grade 5) and Mackenzie (Grade 4) - these are both amazing achievements, we are very proud of you both!

James earns prestigious Scouting Award.

James (5/6C) attends Cub Scouts at 1st Maroondah Scout Pack in Ringwood North. James achieved the Grey Wolf Award which is the highest Award a Cub Scout can achieve. Not many Cub Scouts achieve this award as it requires a lot of self-dedication and many many hours of work. Last Wednesday evening James was presented with his Grey Wolf certificate.  Congratulations James, this is a wonderful achievement!

In earning the Grey Wolf Award, James has:

  • Using a map, planned and led a 4 hour adventurous hike with 8 Cub Scouts.
  • Developed and ran a 90 minute Cub Scout programme for 24 Cubs (Pin hole camera construction).
  • Completed a 2 day leadership course.
  • Attended Pack Council meetings.
  • Attended weekend Pack and District outdoor adventure camps in tents.
  • Completed Stage 3 Bushwalking, Bushcraft and Camping Outdoor Adventure Skills.
  • Achieved 8 stage progressions in the Outdoor Adventure Skills , including Aquatics, Camping, Alpine, Boating, Vertical, Hiking, Cycling and Bushcraft.
  • Completed 6 Special Interest Area activities in STEM, Arts & Literature and Recreation & Sports.
  • Completed a personal reflection on his Scouting Journey.

Mackenzie is dancing up a storm!

Mackenzie of 3/4 C was selected to be in the Victorian Calisthenics State Team in November last year.

Since then, she has been training with the squad of 24 girls between 5-8 hours per week, as well as countless hours at home. She performed at the Palais Theatre last weekend & will be competing in the National Titles in Perth in July.
