Multiplicative Thinking

We have busy exploring multiplicative thinking in our mathematics lessons. What is multiplicative thinking we hear you ask? 

Multiplicative thinking is our ability to work flexibly with the concepts, strategies and representations of multiplication.

In our lessons we have been playing multiplication games and trying to beat our opponents with our strategic thinking. We have been solving multiplication problems and sharing our solutions with our classes. We have been learning new and more efficient strategies to solve these problems.

Our focus has also been on learning our basic multiplication facts, “the times tables” as we know this helps us be more confident with our problem solving.
