T.I.M.E (Music)

This term all students will finish the musical projects begun in term one, which will coincide with performances for their classes and some that may be seen elsewhere in the school. The younger years focusing on class songs about respect and the upper years looking at group songs created around the musical alphabet.

During term two students across the school will also be experiencing work related to our Musica Viva concert scheduled for later in the year. They will discover the work of Doctor Stovepipe, a band that draws from the sounds of Appalachian string-band music, Hot

Jazz, Gypsy Swing, Cowboy-Western combos & Popular Ragtime.

We will look at string instruments and their use in many of the works by Doctor Stovepipe. The lessons will be differentiated for the different grade levels and will be an interactive experience, culminating in a series of activities to stimulate new and consolidate existing musical knowledge.
