Principal's Message

Dear parents, families & guardians

The school has been a hub of activity over the past two weeks. We have held the Unit 1 Theatre Studies production of Twelfth Night directed by Jenny Connolly on the 27 and 28 May , the Junior Music Showcase on the 29 May and the Music Soiree last night. Tim Veevers, Stewart Campbell, David Seedsman and Wendy Harvey have worked alongside the instrumental music teachers to guide the Year 7 and 8 Band forms this year.  Our students attend the Girls in Physics breakfast on Thursday 30 May and the Year 7 students participated in the Mentone Games the following day. I am forever grateful and impressed by our staff who organise and support these very important programs at our school.

On the weekend, I was very excited to be sitting ringside with Tess Molina and her coaches as our aerobics teams competed in the School Aerobics competition in Geelong. I was also joined by Sue D’Adamo and Claire Selir who were there to support our students.  Our students did very well with many of them going through to the Nationals.

This week the Women in History Expo was held at the school which is always a terrific evening for families. The research that the students put into their presentation is very rigorous and engaging.

The STEAM Consultation Group have been meeting with our architects and the final design is almost ready to unveil to our school community. We are committed to upgrading facilities to create an integrated technology space. Essential elements of critical and creative thinking, taking place in an innovative and forward-looking learning space, will prepare our students for the real world workforce demands of the future.

As I have mentioned in many forums, women are currently under-represented in the areas of science and technology and this new, progressive learning environment will equip our students to strive for a successful place in these fields. Our goal is to remove that glass ceiling and raise the self-efficacy of our students so they believe that they can do anything.

We expect to commence work in Term 4 on the STEAM Centre and we would like to maximise the potential of this building by seeking your assistance by way of a tax-deductible donation to the school.  With the financial year almost coming to an end, this is an ideal time to contribute to a space that your daughter will be able to work in next year.  If you are a parent of a Year 12 student, you might like to make a parting contribution to the college.

Payment to the Building Fund can be made to the College through BPAY or credit/debit card. The attached provides more details. A request has been sent to parents via Newsfeed as well.  As soon as we have the final design drawings we will share them with you.
