PRAYER:

This prayer for peace was read at the RSL and Schools remember ANZAC service on Tuesday, followed by The Last Post.

Almighty god, we ask your blessing for the leaders of all countries

that all things may be ordered in wisdom and peace.

We pray for the well being of the citizens of all nations.

Strengthen and encourage them in their efforts to promote peace and goodwill

throughout the world so that we may live in harmony,

friendship and peace.

Amen

P&F COCKTAIL PARTY:  It was great to see many parents at the P&F Cocktail Party.  Thank you to those who attended - I hope you had a good night.

CROSS COUNTRY:  On the morning after the cocktail party the Cross Country team represented us at The Kings School.  There are approximately 150 of each school’s best runners in each race and only the top 15 get through.  Congratulations to Riley Watt who came 10th in his race.  Well done and best wishes to Riley for his next race at Eastern Creek.

RSL ANZAC DAY SCHOOLS REMEMBER:  The Junior School leaders, along with a group of senior school leaders, were fantastic ambassadors at the RSL ANZAC Day Schools Remember ANZAC Day service.  James Terzian, Charlie Dwyer and Michael Fakhoury laid a wreath on behalf of the College and afterwards we visited the newly finished War Memorial.  This was a very interesting experience and could be an excursion in the holidays.

ST PIUS COLLEGE REMEMBERS:  This Thursday the boys will have an Easter liturgy after recess and will go to sport at 11.55 am.  It would be wonderful if you could take your child/children to an Easter service in the holidays.  Most churches have a Stations of the Cross on Good Friday morning and a service at 3pm.  We do celebrate new life with Easter eggs on Easter Sunday - why not celebrate with a liturgy as well.

The services for Lent and Easter at Our Lady of Dolours Church Chatswood can be found below.

JUNIOR SCHOOL INTERIM REPORTS:  The Junior School Interim Reports have been mailed in the traditional way so you should have them by the end of this week.  The two major reports at the end of each semester will be posted online on the portal.

CYBER SAFETY PRESENTATION:  Both 5 Red and 5 Gold had a cybersafety presentation with a counsellor from Kids Helpline.  Please question them about their day - when they said they did nothing, ask them about the presentation and have a chat.

SPORTS CAPTAINS AND VICE CAPTAINS AFTER RECEIVING THEIR BADGES:

RUGBY TOURNAMENT:  Best wishes to the Prep Rugby team that will be going to Armidale at the beginning of the holidays.  Thank you to Mr Virgona and Mr Ure for giving up some of their holidays to accompany the boys and thank you to the parents who will be providing transport and support.  All the best for your tour.

He is an amazing illustrator of books and comics. His favourite style of illustration is the Manga / Anime. Why not get a head start and attend one of the many workshops running at The Children’s Book Shop in Beecroft. Looks like a lot of fun! Please feel free to check out his awesome website.

Junior Sport

Thursday Sport:  at Oxford Falls, although we’ll be departing slightly later due to our Easter service. Winter trials/training continue for Football and Rugby. Players require full training gear (does not have to be St Pius gear), including socks, boots and protective gear (mouthguards, shin-pads etc.). Players wear their PE uniform to school and change on arrival at Oxford Falls.

Looking ahead to Term 2 ...

Cross-Country: Congratulations to all competitors who represented St Pius at the IPSHA event last Saturday. Despite the tough, warm conditions and challenging course the boys ran very well, placing admirably in the 140-strong competitor fields. We congratulate Riley Watt (6 Gold) who placed 10th in his 3km run and thus qualified for the IPSHA team to race at the CIS carnival in Term 2. We wish Riley the best of luck as he prepares for this event.

Rugby:  Our final week of training this term in preparation for Rd 1 on Saturday 4 May (first Saturday back next term). There will be a two-day clinic at Oxford Falls in the holidays for all interested players; perhaps a good way to up-skill for the approaching season. It is on the 23/24 April, caters for all abilities and costs $90. Follow this link to register: https://www.trybooking.com/480857
