Swimming Carnival

The Monkton Aquatic Centre was the scene of a fantastic display of participation and school spirit when Years 7 through to 12 joined together for the annual College swimming carnival on Thursday last week.

Despite the intermittent rain, the student body maintained the momentum with many students challenging themselves and showing what it means to persevere.  The participation rate of the senior students in races was impressive, as was their annual novelty race.

Despite the cool conditions, Lara Moloney from Year 11 broke 5 records; 50m Freestyle (1979), 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly (1978) and the 50m Backstroke. The 50m Freestyle record had stood for 41 years! Well done Lara.

On Friday's assembly, the point scores were announced for the Carnival and medallions were presented to age champions.  Full results will be available in our next newsletter.
