From the Assistant

Principal Mission & Identity

A very big welcome to all our new students and families. I hope you have had a restful break ready to engage with what already looks like a busy year. During 2017 the St Pius X community will focus on the touchstone of ‘Gospel Spirituality’. It seems appropriate that we have left the best to last as this touchstone very clearly incorporates the other three touchstones that we have focused on during the last few years. Through the life of Jesus presented in the Gospel we have been gifted with values for living that call us to be hospitable and compassionate to those in need, inclusive to those who others alienate and agents of justice who seek to make a difference in our world. How fortunate we are that we also have Blessed Edmund Rice as an example that exemplifies how we can truly live out this Gospel message.

The Mission Team have begun planning activities and initiatives based around Gospel Spirituality that will be integrated across curriculum, pastoral and liturgical areas within the College this year. A beautiful quote from Micah 6:6-8 has been selected to give us direction and assist us in our journey this year:

We are called to …. act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.

Ms Katie Meale joins the Mission Team as Religious Education Coordinator, Mr David Blake continues as the Social Justice Coordinator and Mr Adrian Brannan as the Youth Coordinator of the College. Our team is joined by our three Mission and Identity Prefects, Alex Graffeo, Andrew Jackson and Anthony Maras.

As we move towards the season of Lent, I pray that this, our 80th year will be one where we can truly live out the message of the Gospel.
