Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2017 Academic Year.
In the year of ‘Gospel Spirituality’ we continue to develop in our students the ability to be critical and creative thinkers that will enable them to make a difference in our society and be true to the mission of Blessed Edmund Rice.
New Approach to Learning Criteria
As part of the academic reporting process, teachers provide an overview of each student’s approach to learning. In 2017 teachers will be applying new criteria and will report if the student is Consistently, Usually or is still Working Towards meeting the following:
The new criteria provides clear expectation to students and the simplified grading will provide meaningful feedback to parents. The new criteria will be explained to students and is also published in the College Diary.
The Portal
Please make use of the College Portal that allows you to keep up to date with your son’s learning. It provides access to assessment calendars and notifications as well as an array of additional information and forms. It also allows you to manage notification of your son’s absence from school.
Parents who had a child at the college last year, your user name and password will remain the same.
New parents will have received an email with their access details.
If you are experiencing difficulty in accessing the Portal, please email Ms Leonie Millar lmillar@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au
Year 12 Parent Teacher Meetings
Year 12 Parent Teacher meetings will take place in Week 6 of this term before the Mid Course examinations. In the past these were held in Term 2 after the examinations. They have now been brought forward with the intention of providing feedback and guidance prior to this major assessment period. Mr Masters will provide further details.
Assessment Handbooks
Assessment handbooks for Years 7 to 11 will be posted to the Portal early in Week 3. They will appear on the respective Year Page.
I wish your son well for his academic endeavours for 2017 and please do not hesitate to contact me if issues arise.
