Wellbeing

Hello from Kai one of our Wellbeing Leaders for 2022

I am Kai, one of the four Wellbeing Leaders at OLHC and a FIRE Carrier Leader at OLHC. I am known for laughing way too much and am very creative. In my free time, I like to play tennis, do Jiu Jitsu, play on the iPad or read a book. I have one sister Aurora in Year one.

As a Wellbeing leader, I help out with things like SWELL groups or at assemblies (at least the Wellbeing part) and as a FIRE Carrier Leader I go to meetings and share the message of Reconciliation. I think Wellbeing is important because people need to be happy. I hope everyone at OLHC has a great year this year with no lockdowns with lots of fun and freedom.

I am Rafael a Wellbeing Leader

I love swimming (not competitive swimming) and video games. I am one of the Wellbeing Leaders for 2022. I always start the day with a hot chocolate from Brent’s Patisserie, which is a pastry and drink shop that is just across the road from this amazing school. I am known for being a wonderful assistant at Passive Play each week.  I am excited to be a Wellbeing Leader to help make this school a happier place for students and teachers.

What’s been happening at OLHC?

During Wellbeing sessions, each class has had a focus on Emotional Literacy, identifying their own feelings in many situations. The language connected to this is a learning journey as the children come to understand what their feelings look like, feel like and sound like in many varying situations.

Our day of SWELL fun, learning teachers’ names, meeting many new children from other classes and completing wonderful activities, is over. However, we are now having weekly sessions to continue these activities with different teachers, in all parts of the school. Please enjoy reading some of the special recounts below from Grace, Sophie, Hugh, Jane & Eden in Foundation and Maddi, Oscar, Harvey & Elizabeth from Year 1/2. A big thank you to our reporters from these classes.

Kai, Raf, Eloise and Emily, our Wellbeing Leaders, have been visiting the playgrounds and observing children for ‘bucketfilling’ behaviours. They have been recording what they witness on small pieces of paper and displaying them in the top corridor for everyone to read. Some of these behaviours have been: playing with a friend and making them happy, sharing, letting people play with their toys, making friends laugh, giving free stuff, giving free Pokemon cards, helping and lots more. Well done to our Leaders for this positive feedback and to the children who have been these wonderful Bucketfillers!

Best wishes,

Lindy
