Principal’s Message

Child Safety

We are a Child Safe school. In 2013, the Victorian Parliament held an inquiry into the Handling of Child abuse. As a result, the Victorian Government has developed Child Safe Standards for organisations that work with children, including schools.

At Roberts McCubbin Primary School we are committed to child safety safety, participation and empowerment of our children and have zero tolerance of child abuse. All allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently. We have legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety, which we follow rigorously. The school is committed to regularly training and educating our staff and volunteers on child abuse risks and all staff undertake Mandatory Reporting training.

Please find our Child Safety Policy and Child Safety Code of Conduct attached.

Working With Children Checks (WWCC)

We are very appreciative of all the parent support we receive for all manner of school activities at Roberts McCubbin Primary School. WWCCs are required for when a parent/carer is regularly involved in a volunteer activity and working directly with children and/or the nature of the activity poses a higher risk.

Applying for a WWCC

There is no cost to apply for a Working With Children Check in a voluntary capacity. However, you have to fill in an online form and go to a post office to have your photo taken.

Thank you to our community!

We are very fortunate at Robbie Mac to have such a wonderful community of families working together for our students and our school - thank you!

Funds from our Art Show go towards our Artist in Residence Program. This year we were privileged to have Contemporary Indigenous Artist Scott Ratham from South Australia, working with our students, resulting in our Indigenous painting on the north side of the gym! When you are in the grounds next, please come and visit the beautiful design!

‘Our Story’ explaining the design and artworks is below.

Our Art Show Opening Evening is on Friday 18th March at 7.00pm. Please book a ticket and come along. This is a great community event, with wonderful artwork to view and purchase, with drinks and nibbles provided.

Thank you PFA!

The PFA have been fundraising to raise money for large chess pieces for our new outdoor chess board. The icypoles were a huge hit! Thank you to Nicole Perazzo and team for your efforts with icypole sales the past 2 Tuesdays. We hope to purchase the chess pieces soon.

PFA AGM is on next Monday 7th March – please come along and join the wonderful Robbie Mac PFA team. The meeting will be held in the hall.

Education Committee

Our first meeting for 2022 is on tonight in the staffroom at 7.00pm. We are looking for more members to join our team. In 2022 we will be looking at education at Robbie Mac, school policies and our parent Safe & Happy Book. In May our Student Voice Team will be leading our meeting! We are hoping to see some new faces at tonight’s meeting!

Artist in Residence- Our story!

Our Year 56s, with Mrs Cassidy and Scot created our artworks on the gym (next to the 3/4 classrooms). The creation represents: green for the earth, blue for the sky, and the connecting lines and bubbles- capturing moments in time at Robbie Mac.

Each circular drawing represents the:

The grass area next to the mural is a key part of our landscape master plan- to create a ‘wilderness playground’ for learning and play. The proposed design (currently in a draft stage) will link beautifully with our Indigenous mural. The plans also include expanding and building a new entrance to the school via Haig St, with new fencing along the east side of the boundary.
