Principal's Report

Extra-Curricular Activities

As 2022 moves along it is wonderful to see so many things on the school calendar that provide our students with additional opportunities. We have so many things coming up for different groups across the school. With Book Fair, P-2 swimming, Young Leaders Day, Colour Fun Run, Hoodies Up for Autism Day and Alopecia Awareness Day (the last two of which have come from our students wanting to highlight the needs of different areas of the wider community) I think, wow - what a great list of opportunities our students are coming up to.  It is these activities, of which there are many more planned for the year, which add to the rich experience that is school. It is wonderful to know that in 2022 we will be able to provide these for our students and community both in the classroom and outside of our school gates.

Performing Arts

As I sit here and type my report I can hear our Year 5 and 6 students in the Sensory Garden playing instruments as part of our Performing Arts program. This year we are ensuring that this program complements our other Specialist Programs, and while run by classroom teachers, provides all students with a weekly opportunity to engage with the Performing Arts in a rich and meaningful way to further their creativity and experiences in this area of their lives.

2023 Enrolments

I know it almost sounds crazy to be talking about 2023 enrolments already, however, I have sent out a message on Compass for families who do have younger children who will be starting at Marlborough next year to be able to complete an enrolment form and return it to school. This way it is an important job done for you at home, but also enables us to begin forming a picture of our Foundation numbers. I have attached an enrolment form below that can be typed into and emailed into school: marlborough.ps@education.vic.gov.au

I have already begun conducting school tours, with 5 taking place this week so far, and it is great to know our school is one that families are wanting to come and tour. If you know anyone who has school-aged children for 2023, please ask them to get in touch so we can show them around and show what Marlborough has to offer.

Parking at School

At our school council meeting last night we continued the discussion around the parking directly out of the front of the school. We will be seeking to work with Maroondah Council to explore options for this space to change the signage to be a short drop off zone where vehicles are not able to park. In the meantime I would ask that families not park in this area and leave their vehicle, there are many parking spaces slightly further down Hardy Crescent that are usually available.
