School Music Program 

Music at St Joseph’s Primary School Malvern 

We are welcoming back our beloved junior and senior choir and introducing a new St Joseph’s ensemble/band! Rehearsals begin in week 7, students are welcome to come and try in weeks 7 and 8.Questions and further sign-up information for Ensemble/Band and choir can be directed to jessica.chan@sjmalvern.catholic.edu.au 

Junior Choir will rehearse at 8:20-8:50 am in the hall on Tuesday Mornings before school. Senior Choir will rehearse at 8:20-8:50 am in the hall on Wednesday Mornings before school. Students for the choir will be collected by Miss Chan at the gate from 8:15 am before moving to the hall strictly at 8:20 am. Students will leave their bags outside the hall to collect upon moving to their morning classes. New Ensemble/band will rehearse at 2:45-3:30 pm in the hall on Tuesday Afternoon during school hours. Please consider joining the ensemble if you currently play an instrument inside or outside of school, solo vocalists are welcome. Instruments will need to be brought to school on ensemble day. Keyboard and piano students are encouraged - the instruments available to participate regularly are the glockenspiel and xylophone, with occasional piano accompaniment. Keyboard and piano students need not transport their instruments. 

Update for instrumental lessons *new instruments 

Our current external instrumental programme now offers flute as well as piano, guitar and music theory, please send enquiries for these instruments to christopherdegroot@gmail.com, we would love to see the flute in our ensemble! 

Additionally, Miss Chan will be offering small group and individual lessons for violin, viola, cello and double bass for students commencing in Term 2 as extracurricular lessons. If you have not already expressed interest, please contact jesshchan@gmail.com as there are limited spaces available. Miss Chan will bring in her (adult-sized) instruments this week for students to see and hear.
