Congratulations

We congratulate Janice (St 3 Arm) who has been selected to represent South Australia in the National Callisthenics Competition.

Although her interstate trip is cancelled due to Covid, we trust her virtual performance, filmed in the Royalty Theatre in June, will been seen favourably by the judges.

Basketball Results

Year 2/3 GS Thunder

We welcomed some new players who played their first game of basketball this season. Last week’s game against Aggies was a nail bitter. The team put in a fantastic effort despite having only 5 players.

Raewyn and Anhad were strong at the top of the key in defence and Hunter got some great rebounds. We went in at half time with the score of 0-6. Rowdy moved the ball up the court well with confident dribbling and great team passing. Jessica got us on the score board with the first points of the game. In the final minutes of the game, we were down 4-6. Hunter drew a foul and went to the free throw line with 1 minute of the game to go. He got in both shots to tie the game 6-6, what an amazing come back for Thunder.

Scorers: Jessica (2pts) and Hunter (4 pts).

This week’s game was the first game with a full team. Thunder showed some strong defensive skills against the Eagles. Rowdy, Raewyn and Jessica did a fantastic job in zone defence, whilst Hunter got some great rebounds. Tyler showed confidence in handling the ball up the court. Anhad positioned herself well in offense and scored her first points for the season. Jonte penetrated the Eagle’s defence confidently and scored some impressive lay-ups.

It was a close game, however despite the loss (8-13), we showed great tenacity on the court. It was good to see the team developing their team dynamic and sharing the ball around.

Scorers: Anhad (4pts) and Jonte (4pts).
