 Mother's Day Raffle

In conjunction with our annual Mother's Day stall at the beginning of next term, we have an amazing basket of goodies to raffle.

Valuing around $100 worth of prizes, including a Garden Grove Voucher as well as an array of gifts, $2.00 tickets will be available on QKR or from the school office.

Mother's Day Stall

In the first week back of Term 2, we will be holding a stall where children may purchase a low-cost gift for their mothers.

Watch this space for details.

If you would like to be involved with this, and subject to Covid guidelines, please contact the office.

Learning Conversations (previously known as Parent Teacher Interviews)

Communication  between home and school is a high priority and we believe our Learning Conversations are placed perfectly to build connection and share the learning of your children at these early stages of the year.  What we have missed so much is the face-to-face conversations we can have with you, therefore Learning Conversations will go ahead as listed on our calendar, with socially distanced face-to-face meetings occurring in your child's learning space.

We will be using an online booking system to organise times for parents to come to the school.

An email will be sent to families with two or more students at school on Monday, which gives the link to access the booking sheet.

Once these families have made their multiple booking times, an email will be sent to families with only one student at school.

Students in Stage 4 are requested to attend the Learning Conversation.

While it is not the preference of all, we ask that to engage in a face-to-face Learning Conversation all adults wear a mask. Our priority is to minimise risk as much as possible.

20 minute timeslots (15 minutes for conversation, 5 minutes to allow for transition) are available as follows:

Tuesday 12 April: 3.30pm to 5.30pm; 6.30 to 7.50pm

Wednesday 13 April:  11.00am to 12.40pm;  1.20 to 3.00pm; 3.40 to 5.20pm; 6.20 to 7.00pm.

Teachers will have a timer set up so the 5 minute transition can occur smoothly.  This is to alleviate sessions running late. We want  parents arriving on time to their next session.

Please note that Wednesday 13 April is a Pupil Free Day.  OSHC will be operating if you require child care.  Bookings can be made through 'Fully Booked'.

Entry into and exit from the school building will be through the front office.

What about students/families with Covid/in isolation?

We acknowledge that the isolation and Covid status of children/families will change between now and week 11, and we want to be flexible to meet the needs of these families. As you can appreciate, this will be complex and will be last minute. The school will make contact with you close to the interview days to support a conversation occurring.

Growing Faith at Home

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful things we can experience. It releases people from all kinds of hurt and restores relationships. This week’s GFH resource focuses on a story that Jesus told about the Forgiving Father. Why not share these Caring Conversations with your family this week?

Share about a time when someone forgave you. How did you feel? How do you think the son (in the story) felt when his father welcomed him back? In what ways is God like the forgiving father? The Creative Response offers a great way to share this message with younger children as well ask asking questions that explore perspectives from different people in the story.

I’ve also included another Lenten Craft called ‘Road to Calvary’ your children might like create in the lead up to Easter.

God bless your week!

Little Lambs Playgroup

Our community values opportunities to connect with families with little ones. Sharing time together, chatting over a coffee as little ones play is its own reward. Creating an environment where relationships can be formed and nurtured is a wonderful area of connection and care! We are still looking for people who might be interested in serving in this way.

If this is something you feel led to be a part of, I would love to hear from you. There are plenty of resources ready to go thanks to the creativity, generosity and love of previous Little Lambs team leaders.

Please contact me via email or chat with me sometime about this valuable opportunity.

Will keep you posted on Little Lamb’s next chapter. Watch this space!

Black Dog Ride

This amazingly humble woman is Jen, mother of two students here at Good Shepherd – Adam (Stage 3) and Jacob (Stage 4).

On the weekend of 19/20 March, Jen joined with other bike riders on Kangaroo Island to take part in The Black Dog Ride, raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention, particularly in men.

The ride was a wonderful opportunity to add some extra kms to her 37 year old BMW and share the vision to improve mental health in our community. The article below has some more details of the ride.

The website below has more information about this organisation and there is also a separate link if you would like to donate and support the work they do.
