Kingswood students have been enjoying the last few weeks of PE, developing their fundamental motor skills, learning new sports/games, as well as understanding the roles of offense/defense and finding space in different sporting environments.
In our junior years, students have been enjoying working on their locomotor skills such as running, jumping, and hopping as well as playing invasion games which teaches awareness as well as dodging skills. Students have also been developing their over-arm and under-arm throw and catch which now has them utilizing these skills in team-based games.
Year 5 and 6 have started working on their throwing and catching as well as fielding in Softball with the aim to have students playing class games during the last week of school. This week students were practicing catching with the gloves by fielding ground balls, fly balls, and line drives.
Summer Inter-School Sport for our Year 6 students came to an end last week and I would like to congratulate every team and commend them on their sportsmanship as well as effort during their season. A big congratulations to the Mixed Softball as well as Rounders team who have made it into the district Finals which will be played on Friday the 1st of April.
Lastly, I would like to shine a light on Ayaan Ghouseini's accomplishments in swimming at the Division Champions which was on Monday the 21st of March. Ayaan had another successful swimming day by coming 2nd in both his events. Well done Ayaan!!
