The Value of International Students

The Value of International Students

Paige Strachan, Year 9

Having knowledge of cultures and languages from all around the globe opens up an opportunity for us to be more culturally aware, as well learn about the differences between cultures. This is why it is wonderful to have such a variety of diverse and multi-cultural students at Kilvington.

I truly enjoy listening to the stories that our international students have to share with me and the other students and staff around the School. We equally enjoy learning from each other.

To elaborate, some of my closest friends at our School are from Japan and China, and from them I have learnt phrases in their language, as well as what they celebrate in their countries, such as Lunar New Year festivities in China and ‘Oomisoka’ in Japan.

I feel that having international students at our School is a great thing. It gives Kilvington students a more open, accepting and global perspective. Truly, we do learn as much from international students as they do from us, and I feel this is amazing!
