Learning for Life

Lower Junior

Lower Junior students have settled in well into their new learning spaces. Students have been exploring the new building and playground and are loving all the new facilities designed with them in mind! We celebrated John’s 7th birthday in Room 3 with a yummy cake and all sat together and enjoyed a piece.

Upper Junior

Upper Junior has been abuzz with excitement all week with the children exploring our new space.  The classrooms, well lit by nature, with cleverly designed features like the magnetic whiteboard cupboard doors, were great to teach and learn in.  The expansive communal area has given us the opportunity to gather regularly as a section, to socialise, play and collaborate on many engineering projects. Our beautifully lit sensory room, otherwise known as the “Billabong Lounge”, is the perfect calm and safe place for us to retreat to when our engines are not just right. Immersing oneself in the ball pit with a colour changing mood light has so far, a 100% guaranteed hit rate of putting a smile on one’s face!

When asked to write about their favourite places, some students cited our Reading Corner. With beanbags, cushions and a vast collection of literary works, it has been a popular spot for us to connect and share stories.  However, the place receiving the highest number of votes, though not surprisingly, is the sensational sensory playground. The in-ground trampoline, bird’s nest swing, climbing frame and gorgeously soft, white sand have got students lining up and wanting a turn to spend some time here.

What a fantastic start to Term 4!

Come Try Tennis Day

On Tuesday 15th October some of our Inters and Seniors students headed into Margaret Court Arena for a come try tennis day.  It was a fabulous day where students got to work on their throwing, catching, bouncing and hitting skills, as well as interact with their friends from other schools.  Special guest , with 11 Grand Slams victories, Todd Woodbridge was there to lend a hand, offer assistance, pose for photos!  Our students our getting out and about!

Variety Club Bikes

On Wednesday 9th of October,  the Variety Club selected 8 lucky Yarrabah students to receive new bikes and helmets at Melbourne Park. We travelled by bus into the city. Students were entertained with a magic show while the bikes were being wheeled out. The students were super excited to receive their new bike and some were riding around in the foyer straight away!

Thank you to the Variety Club for providing our kids with this fantastic opportunity.
