WOMEN

By Christie Freeman- Women's VP
The successes of our club as both a competitive hockey club but especially as a great community to be part of has been reflected in the start of season 2020. We have new players joining us from local, interstate and international clubs, as well as the majority of our players returning from 2019 for a preseason that gives us a lot of reason to be optimistic. Whilst the on-field season now looks uncertain, what I see from our community makes me remain optimistic that we will come through this period strong. The willingness of our ladies to embrace our ‘virtual hockey club’ and share fitness and wellness ideas, as well as plenty of good humour is really inspirational.
Pre-season Highlights
Pre-season Training
Wednesday night pre-season has been actively supported and it's been great to see so many people who have also taken advantage of the Thursday fitness sessions across the board.
Practice matches
We managed to fit in practice matches against Footscray for PL, PLR and Pennant A and against Yarra Valley for PL and PLR as well as KBH for Pennant A. It was great to see the preseason effort come into play and the teams come together so well and to see continuing hard work pay off.
Whole of Club Day - Rock climbing and Trampolining
We shared a fantastic day of fun with the Mens Division rock climbing and trampolining. Everyone challenged themselves and there were some pretty breathtaking heights reached on the climbs.
Teams for 2020
At this stage we have teams entered in Womens Metro, Pennant F, Pennant E, Pennant B, Pennant A, Premier League Reserves and Premier League.
Whilst the season is now postponed until May 1st, we will do our best to keep everyone up to date with new developments.
Stay safe and looking forward to seeing everyone as soon as we can!
