The countdown is on! 

Mark these dates in your diaries!

Our Holy Redeemer will be celebrating BOOK WEEK and the announcement of the winning books from the CBCA (Children's Book Council Awards) beginning on Monday, August 28 - Friday, September 1st. During this week we will be celebrating reading, books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. 

On Monday, August 28, the Library leaders, Saige and Harrison, supported by our Library team, Luca, Poppy, Art, James, Ted. Hugo and Betty will be visiting classes, to look at their Book Week displays, to see how they have interpreted and responded to the 2023 theme 'Read, Grow, Inspire'. Our Year Six students will be visiting local kindergartens to share their own books that they have created.

On Tuesday, August 29, students and staff are invited to wear a hat to school and locate the hidden 'Frank' from "Frank's Red Hat", located in our school.

 We will be holding a BOOK WEEK parade on Wednesday, August 30 where our school staff and students are invited to dress up as a character from their favorite book.  Parents are invited to attend this parade, beginning at 9 am in the hall.

The author ADAM WALLACE will be visiting our school on Wednesday, August 30 where he will show students his unique style of writing and illustrating. 

On Thursday, August 31, students and staff are invited to bring favourite books to school, to share with their classmates. 

The week will conclude on Friday, September 1 with a picnic outside (weather permitting) where students are encouraged to bring a picnic style lunch for themselves, a picnic rug, cushions and favourite book to read as they enjoy their picnic food.

 

Leading up to BOOK WEEK, families are invite to participate in a FAMILY QUIZ . Click on the attached link to take part and submit your responses online or hand in your responses to Mrs MacIsaac in the library.

Frank's Red Hat, by Sean E. Avery, is one of the shortlisted books nominated in the Picture Books Category. The Year 1/2 students created their own pieces of art, based on this book.

 

 Chess Club News

The CHESS club operates on WEDNESDAYS in the library/resource centre. It's interesting to observe student confidence developing as the students learn new information, compare strategies and revise previous understandings. 

 If you wish to enrol your child(ren) please collect a Chess form from the office.
