Catherine McAuley ALL SCHOOLS State Champions

On Tuesday the 12th of September our Senior Rugby Union team ventured off to Granville Park, Merrylands to compete in the All Schools 7's State titles.  Our first game was against a Sydney Public School Merrylands East.  The boys played really well and won the game quite comfortably.  Our second game was against another Catholic School and after a good tussle we once again were victorious.  The third game in the pool round was the toughest.  Scone Grammar (a rugby school), however the boys especially in the second half played really well to go through the Pool games undefeated and be Ranked Number 1 for the semi-finals.  The semi-final was another close game but once again the Catherine McAuley boys showed great defensive skills to notch another win.  The State final awaited.  The team North Narrabeen.  They had gone through the town games, regional games and the pool games undefeated just like us.  This game was by far the toughest the boys had encountered all year.  Lewis Vaughan, Lachlan Dunkley and Billy Dean were exceptional in defence in this game.  Judd Zinga, Percy Johnson and James Rodwell's service from the ruck was fast and reliable.  Cooper Judge and Will Fardell were simply awesome at the breakdown, winning the ball for us on on many occasions, Klay  Oliver-Roach and Lincoln Hainsworth showed why speed is such an important aspect in any football team and finally Mr Reliable Archie Markwick was able to fill in in many positions  which meant when replacements were needed our structure and game plan didn't have to change.  Due to all these things after a tough game the siren sounded and the announcement was made Catherine McAuley 24, North Narrabeen 17.  McAuley were crowned the best 7's school in all of NSW.  A fantastic achievement.  Mr Hudson and the team would like to acknowledge and thank the Parents for the support they had shown throughout this football season.  Without this support we couldn't have played at all the various venues.
