Focus Of The Week

Week 9: We Move Around the School Respectfully and Responsibly - Last week we looked at how we move safely around the school.  Inside the school building, it is important for all students and staff to move sensibly and carefully in the corridors, especially around corners!  There are often many students trying to use the stairs at the same time. Students need to make sure they use the correct staircase and always keep to the left as they walk up and down the stairwells.  This allows for others to move up or down the stairs safely.  Everyone also needs to put safety first when moving around the school playgrounds and outside areas.  With safety as one of our school rules,  moving around the school both inside and outside needs to be done mindfully.

Week 10: We Are Respectful To All Members of the McAuley Family -  Throughout the year we are grateful to have a variety of different teachers and professionals offering educational instruction for a range of different reasons.  This includes casual teachers taking classes, Release teachers offering specialist subjects and visiting professionals offering specialised instruction.  We are very grateful for all the expertise these people bring to McAuley and the rich opportunities our students receive from these people. It is an important expectation of every member of our McAuley Family to show kindness and respect to everyone, regardless of their position. Therefore this week we will  look at what is expected of students when engaging with new or visiting professionals to McAuley.

Welcome Olsen Kennedy!

This week we are hosting a work experience student from Stannies, Olsen Kennedy, who is finding out what it is like to be on 'the other side of the desk'!  Olsen has been working with all grades, and has fitted into McAuley with ease!  It is so nice to have students come to McAuley to see if teaching could be a future directions for them, and we welcome Olsen and hope that he will continue to enjoy his time at McAuley.

Performances:

Congratulations to our students in Year 3 on the wonderful plays they presented recently.  Thank you to everyoe who came along to support these students as they braved the stage.  Thank you also to Mrs Allan and Mrs Niven for all the work they have put into preparing our students for their plays this term.

Congratulations also to Lilly Hiller and Kaleah Norton on their recent performance at the State Championship Cheerleading Competition.  We also congratulate our Boys Rugby 7's on their fantastic results in Sydney last week, being crowned NSW State Champions!

We are so proud of all our student's achievements both at school and in their individual pursuits.  We wish them well and hope they keep working hard to achieve their dreams!

McAuley Celebrations:

Thank you to all who have been able to join us this week as celebrate our Foundress, the Venerable Catherine McAuley.  Thank you to Mrs Shannon Cain and all those who have been busy 'behind the scenes' with preparation for our festivities.  We now look forward to our McAuley Mass tomorrow at 9.30am in the Church, and presenting our worthy recipients with this year's McAuley Awards.

Wishing you a safe and happy school holidays!
